Look at the Atlantic and you will find three storms lined up. Jose is a hurricane and may hit Cape Cod, Next, Tropical Depression 15 could become a named storm and TS Lee has just formed. Say what you will about climate change, but the number and intensity of tropical storms this year has been insane.

Trevor, you are a little ray of sunshine! I'm only kidding. To be honest, I stopped thinking about hurricane season after Irma fizzled out. Are any of those supposed to hit the US? I don't believe this country can cope with another natural disaster after Harvey and Irma.

I've been called worse things than a ray of sunshine. I don't believe any of these tropical systems pose much of a risk for Hilton Head. Hurricane Jose is a weak category 1 and may brush by Cape Cod later this week. The other two are too far out for good predictions. I admit that I am a huge weather wonk.

Maria is making me a little nervous, I must say.

Rob,

I am starting to get worried too. I see the track of Maria following in the footsteps of Irma and it is supposed to strengthen into a category 3 hurricane in the next couple of days. The path is predicted to turn north well before hitting Florida, but Irma's track kept moving west until it went into the Gulf of Mexico. This weather pattern is crazy.

Cheers,
Will

Well that escalated quickly...Maria is now a category 5 hurricane.

It's amazing how the weather continues to baffle forecasters with all of their sophisticated computer models and satellite imagery. Maria went from a category 2 to a category 5 in a matter of 12 hours.
