Welcome Jim,

I have the Garmin Nuvi 350 and I highly recommend it. In fact, I have no idea how I got around before I got this thing. I did a lot of research before the purchase and bought the 350, based on the multitude of reviews I read.

Have a great trip and I hope you continue to participate in the forum.

Cheers,
Will

Ben's Bargains is showing a Pharos Drive 250 for $177 after rebate from Dell.

Dealnews is showing a Nextar for $120 with free shipping.

I've never needed or used a GPS so you'll have to get feedback from someone that knows more than me.

Check these bargain watch sites for the latest deals on anything...

Friends of ours said I saved them $500 on a Flat Panel TV a few weeks ago just by visiting these sites...

Good luck!

GMTA...I own a Nuvi 350 and love it as well.

Oh, and one tip - use the suction cup and attach it on the windshield just below your rear view mirror. I started out thinking I wanted it down lower near my stick shift and found that was very dangerous, as it requires taking your eyes off driving too much.

Cheers,

Scott

thanks for the responses all! Keem em coming! We are primed about the trip.. this is the first foray to Hilton Head - really looking forward to it. We have a large house down N. Forrest Beach Drive 2nd row on Capri lane.. 4 families.. so it will be a great time. spent the last two years in Myrtle Beach - really looking forward to the trip - First week in June, hopefully it will be warm - mid 80's.. from what I can tell - statistically anyway - the first two weeks in June are the least amount of rain.. so hopefully! Anyway - I have an older Garmin GPS V that needs upgrading.. no touchscreen or color screen.. so its time to update! The thing I like the most about the gps V is that I could program a manual route on the pc and then upload it - that way if I had my own directions, I could use those.. problem with the new garmins - is that they took that feature awaty, and just recently added it back in he 700 series nuvi's- too rich for my blood! I have hit all the forums for gps and options range all over the board for every unit out there.. its just good to get as many opinions as possible.. anyway, now that we are in 08 and just 4 months away.. its time to see what hilton head has to offer so I will be lurking every day - and dont get mad if I ask a stupid question.. because I am full of them!!

We actually bought our Garmin in January when we were at Hilton Head.
We were down with my parents and my dad had one and we got addicted to it!

I have to say it is so nice to have on Hilton Head! I highly recommend getting one!

We named ours Lola! She is fun...especially on the traffic circles!

We got the Garmin 450 for Christmas--main difference between 350 is a larger screen, which my husband demanded for our age 50+ eyes. I considered it a Y-chromosome toy, but it quickly won me over when it wove us through a complicated shortcut in Richmond last weekend. I travel a lot for business, so it will be a lifesaver.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 660. I love it! It has a touch screen which is so easy to use. It's better than the one in my husband's Mercedes!

Have you decided which GPS to buy yet? The Garmin Nuvi has gotten excellent reviews from this group.

I have a basic Tom Tom Go and love it.We used it last year on our trip to Myrtle Beach and HHI and it was perfect. The price has come down to 199.00.
