It looks like Hurricane Michael will stay away from Hilton Head Island, but the effects will still be felt. Here's the 3- day projected path for the hurricane from the National Hurricane Center:

Here's the current prediction for the wind speeds. I've marked Hilton Head on the map so you can see the general location. It looks like it's in the 40 - 50% chance of Tropical Force Speed Winds band with this latest 5 PM forecast update.

VERY windy this morning. Supposed to be 40+ mph by 8am. Walking the dog will be a problem with all the falling debris!

Was there any damage on Hilton Head? I am still floored by the destruction in Mexico Beach. The images of all the empty lots and destroyed homes in Florida are shocking and sad beyond words. I pray for those hurt by the hurricane.

Unbelievable damage in the pan handle. Lord have mercy on those people! Hilton Head dodged the bullet with just a little wind...no rain and no damage other than a fair amount of debris to clean up from the wind. Weather the past few days has been ideal. Beautiful time of the year in the Lowcountry.
