I went to the Earle of Sandwich last October (2009) I was 8 months pregnant and I fell in love with his burger and fries! I am going back in a couple of weeks and I promised the owner I would drink a Yuengling and eat another burger. I seriously probably ate 3 burgers that trip. Ive been dreaming about it ever since! I cant wait to be back!

I've been eating at the Earle of Sandwich in Coligny since my first trip to HHI in 1992. I've always enjoyed the food and the bartender's sense of humor. We take out three children and have never had an encounter like the one posted below. I believe this is just a swipe at the Earle by some anonymous person who was mad at having someone point out their lack of parenting skills and common courtesy.

Please be wary of bogus reviews on web sites. We were at the restaurant when the baby started screaming and the guardians did nothing about it. The screaming went on for at least 10 minutes requiring the owner to politely approach the negligent baby sitters to get the situation under control for the sake of all of us trying to enjoy a meal. The owner was extremely polite and patient under this most uncomfortable and out of hand situation. We all applauded when they left and we discussed among ourselves that they were the kind of people that would write a crap review somewhere online. The sandwiches were fantastic and we went back again the next day. Try the "Earl Sandwich" its the BOMB!

I was one of the ladies with the child that cried today. This child was crying due to separation anxiety as his mother had just gone to the restroom. Not to mention that he was stuck in his high chair. While my friend and I were trying immediately to get him out, the owner, Jeff, yelled across the restaurant, "OK That's enough of that." I seriously thought he was joking so I chuckled. Then, he proceeded to say, "No, seriously that's enough of that." I said, "Oh do you want us to take him out?" He replied, "yeah if he is gonna do that." Now, mind you, we are talking about an 18month old child, who was crying because he didn't know where his mama was, not because he was being a brat..... as this man implied. And this MAY have gone on for 2 minutes tops.
I won''t get into the rest, but this man is rude.... really rude, and I would never step foot in there again, and would recommend no one else do either... Unless you like rudeness with your fish and chips.

I was sitting at the bar at the Earle of Sandwich when all of a sudden a small child in the upper dining room started screaming at the top of his lungs. This lasted for quite some time before the owner asked one of the ladies to quiet the child. All I wanted was to have a quiet meal. The owner never made a racist remark, he just wanted that child to be quiet for his other customers. The food is great here, we always come here when we vacation.

My wife and some of her friends showed up at this restaurant while they were at the beach. We have two adopted children from Asia and this man and his wife were rude and yelled at them telling them to leave for no reason. After we viewed the reviews on this page it became evident that this man and his wife are racists. Stay away!!!

I love the Earl. Every year we visit HHI in July and will be back this year as well. We have to eat at the Earl at least 2 or 3 times in our two week vacation. The "Earl Sandwich" is our favorite but they have good food and good soups. I love the bar/pub atmosphere!

I went on vacation to Hilton Head Island this past March and ate at a variety of places, considering I ate out three times a day for five days straight, and The Earle had to be my favorite spot. I had eaten at One Hot Mammas, Steamers, Skillet, The Salty Dog, etc. And the Earle of Sandwich Pub had hands down the most delicious and savory food, even given it was mostly bar food. This place is a definite must! Good reasonable prices and a nice ion of tasyy burgers that will keep you drooling throughout your entire stay, trust me I know I was. All in all, this little pub was probably in my top three biggest excitements about Hilton Head, even if it was only food, it was that good. Plus, who could resist those cool tshirts they sell at a nice price? Go to the Earle, you will not be disappointed!

We really miss your "EARL" Jeff. As our dear friend from Philly,we always enjoyed seeing you,and listening to those good
stories andjokes of yours.Geri and I always dream and reminiss over all of the great times that we both had at "THE EARL" OF SANDWICH" We have had an urge for the Rueben and the original "EARL" that just melted in your mouth.
You always catered to the working class people,
as well as the ultra rich Jeff,because everybody loved you,for the great person that you truely are,and it showed in every mouth

We considered going here, but it was pretty obvious that the owner of this joint loves the smell of cigarette smoke. Everybody at the bar was smoking. We went to the Big Bamboo instead -- best nachos on the island.

Our first meal on the island was at the Earle in Coligny Plaza. The menu isn't huge, but they serve great pub food and the coldest draught beer you can find. The owner, Jeff, is there everyday and usually tends bar. They have a kids menu and outdoor seating when the weather is cool enough.

I ate at the Earle last August for lunch and had the best burger in a long time. They had a good selection of beer on tap and it was as cold as ice. I will be back this summer for sure.
