Old Oyster Factory, The Information: The Old Oyster Factory serves superb innovative seafood and steaks in a lively, casual atmosphere. Situated on Broad Creek, the restaurant offers a breathtaking panoramic water view--possibly the best view of the Low Country's gorgeous marshes. The structure's interior, featuring rhythmic patterns of precision planed and polished wooden beams, expresses the spirit of a mountain skii lodge. Here you'll find our thoughtful, energetic staff eager to make your dining experience a wonderful one.

A Beautiful View 2/23/2008

We sat next to a window in the back of the restaurant and the marsh views were beautiful - by far the best restaurant views we experienced during our vacation. We were seated immediately without reservations. However, based on what I have read on other websites, the wait can be over 90 minutes during the peak season. In my opinion it would not be worth that type of wait.
I enjoyed the halibut, but the rest of the meal and the service was just okay. (Service example: One person in our party ordered a beverage for her daughter after the food was served, it never came.)
Go to the Old Oyster Factory if you want a great view. Food and service? Overrated.

Great food and atmosphere 10/31/2007

First, the atmosphere is wonderful with beautiful views over Broad Creek. The menu has something for everyone, and the wine selection is spectacular. We sampled several appetizers, including oysters and shrimp. For our meals, we had scallops, and a large cut filet. For desert, we shared a marscapone suffle. Everything was cooked absolutely perfect with lots of flavor. The service was great, and even though it was busy, our server took great care of us. This fine-dining restaurant is a great place for families to check out while in Hilton Head.

Always on our list of places to eat on our annual trip, consistent and pleasureable. A casual family kind of place, make sure you take some time to wander outside and watch folks kayaking, crabbing, shrimping, or enjoy the guitarist on the porch out back. It's the overall experience the pleases you here - not exactly gourmet fare, but a gourmet lowcountry experience, if you take it all in.

This place is highly advertised, making it a crowded place. Although the view and atmosphere are great, the food and service was just mediocre. It is now on our been there done that list.

Old Oyster Factory is always packed to the gills. Usually a sign of a great restaurant... We have found the food to be just average most of the time. The marketing brings the crowd. If you enjoy a crowded bar with lots of upsell pressure, this is your place.

We make sure to visit the Old Oyster Factory at least once every year. The food and service is great. Atmosphere is casual and the outdoor deck makes for a great time for drinks and listening to live music
