Hilton Head Diner Information: You can get anything to eat here, breakfast is served all day long, sandwiches, salads, meat loaf, stir fries. I don't know how they do it. Upon entering check out the dessert display cases, filled with fresh made pies and cakes. Maybe I'll just skip the meal and go straight for the coconut cake!

MY MOM GOT FOOD POISONING FROM EATING HERE!! 1/9/2009
Reviewer: ralph from SC
Last week my Mom and I ate breakfast at this place and within minutes of leaving my Mom became very ill.

She got food poisoning at this diner!!

She had a Western Omlette with coffee so it must have been the eggs or perhaps the ham in the omlette.

I called and spoke with the owner the next day and he seemed surprised and told me that they sell a ton of eggs each day and he couldn't imagine this was possible.

I asked them to send me a check and to refund me the price we paid for our meals and I still have yet to receive the check from them. I've since contacted my credit card company and I disputed the charge.

Avoid this place at all costs.

Stay home and make your own breakfast unless you want to take the chance of getting food poisoning!!

we (4 of us) ate at the diner last night, we had beeena few times, service was never good but the food had always been more or less worth the wait. However last night we aited for 4 sandwhichs for over an hour, the food wasn't right, service was horrible, we weren't checked on and when we complained to the manager, she did absolutely nothing. I have never had such a bad experience at a restaraunt. And I WONT be going back.

We used to work at The Hilton Head Diner, 1999-2003 and at the time It Rocked!!!It was a great thing. We worked hard, serviced our customers quickly made lots of money and had a great time while we worked there. Nick Sr ran his resteraunt well. The place was Always busy...Service was good Food was awsome. My daughter and I worked together there. Nick supplied great food and we great customer service, sorry to hear its gone downhill, as we said, It was an awsome place to eat and work, we talk about it still how much we miss Nick and The Hilton Head Diner

Went here for lunch. Not much to brag about. Burgers were so-so and the waiter was nonexistant to busy talking to friends that wandered in without buying a thing.
What happened to this place?! 4/26/2007

HH diner has been there forever, but I wonder if they are under new management or new owners since the last time we were there about two years ago.
We stopped in twice recently and both times the tables were sticky, the service was slow, the food was subpar and the people working there just didn't seem like they wanted us there.

I was also disappointed in their baked goods. They always had the best croissants, tarts, brownies and cakes. The strudel and Brownie we brought home were stale.
I don't think we'll even try next time. Every restaurant can have a bad day, no matter how good, but I have a feeling this place has gone downhill a lot.

Wait staff is not to swift.. They think of you as a number not as a customer.. We do go there, but wish there was something else like it with better staff...
Not as good as it used to be 2/6/2007

We've been to the HH Diner every year since we've been going to the island (about 7 yrs.) It was really great when Nick was there, he used to let my kids go out back and pick the figs off his fig trees. When his sons took over, they cut down a lot of the trees (so you could see the diner from the street) and the quality of the food & service seems to have gone down. We ate there last July (2006) and were not happy.
Two dining experiences within the last 12 months... 1/28/2007
Reviewer: K Tener from Hilton Head
Went in for breakfast on 1/28/2007. Two people at our table. You could shoot a cannon in the place. The waitress greeted our table after about 10 minutes, and then took our order. About 25 minutes later 2 dishes came out, one we ordered, one that was someone else's food. The correct plate was misisng it's side dish. Ten minutes later, the waitress came back with part of the second dish and told us the first dish fell on the floor and needed to be replaced. The replacement belgium waffle was so cold that room temperature butter would not melt on top of it. The waitress forgot all about the sausage that came with it. By now, both dishes were cold, and we were out of drinks. It took us 20 more minutes to consume part of our cold meal without drinks and the waitreess never came back to check on us. She never brought us our bill, either. When at the cashier to pay our bill that we never recieved, the manager didn't apoligize, or make any attempt to correct the situation. She simply told us they were short one waitress and that is why our meal was so bad. Unfortunately, this was the second time we had a bad experience here in the last 12 months. Our first experience was equally as bad. We thought they were having an "off" day. We will not be back.
A solid breakfast.... 12/31/2006

We always go to one of the locations (there's a few) for a solid breakfast when we're heading back home from a week at Hilton Head. Typical diner food - in some ways refreshing after a week of seafood and whatever...
Great breakfast food 9/29/2006

Great for breakfast and lunch or a light dinner. Omlettes and sandwiches are good but entree portions seem small and sometimes have an "off" taste.

We went here for lunch one day and all had meals that were fine. It was pretty busy, but service was good. One downer - the coleslaw did not agree with my Mom and I did not find it tasty at all.
good breakfast 7/12/2006

We usually stop here for breakfast. Although I have heard people enjoy their dinners too. They give very generous servings. The baked goods are delicious. Also the fun environment of the juke boxes and fifties decor is neat for the kids. We always get nice waitresses.
