Boathouse II Information: Good times, great food and the finest wines are naturals at waterfront Boathouse II. This restaurant is the Island's gathering place to celebrate life and coastal living! Blessed with spectacular views of the salt marsh along Skull Creek, the lush Pinckney Island Wildlife Preserve, and the adjacent marina, guests can relax and dine indoors in a casual boathouse atmosphere on the enclosed porch, decorated with original hand painted murals depicting local marine life or in the spacious tavern room with its huge fireplace reminiscent of an old lodge.

Enjoy outdoor dining from May to October. The large waterfront deck, set under a canopy of giant oaks, offers mounted fans to supplement the ocean breezes, tiki torches, and the perennially popular "Marker 13" outdoor bar. Live entertainment is offered year round. Your entire family will enjoy the friendly service, scenic location, and savor Southern favorites with plenty of fresh seafood selections, and our very popular Sunday brunch.

There are three dining areas.
1. The inside area around the bar has an Adironack decor that seems out of place.
2. The "middle area" is an enclosed porch that has no decor whatsoever.
3. The large outside patio is a great place on a nice evening with a sunset view.

The food here is good, and it is somewhat cheaper than at the sister restaurant Old Fort Pub.

The problem we encountered this Spring (2008) is that they've changed the draft beer to Lite American beers or the silly stuff that has an orange slice and/or smells of flowers. Previously, they had Palmetto Pale Ale. We don't understand why there wouldn't be at least one serious beer -- an IPA, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams.

We have eaten here several times. The food has always been excellent. We also tried the Sunday brunch. They don't have a big selection, but they have all the basics, and again everything was wonderful. A Sunday morning out on the patio was just the way to start the day.

My wife and I have had many meals here, both inside and outdoors, just the two of us and with a large group. Every occassion was enjoyable and I've never been disappointed with the food or the service. Conveniently located outside the back gate of Hilton Head Plantation, casual attire and beautiful views.

The outdoor bar is a great place to hang out. The bands are usually good and everyone is usually having a good time. The sunsets aren't so bad either. I have only eaten here once so I can't really comment on the food.
